The dam itself is officially named Ir. H. Juanda dam by the government, with a panorama of 8,300 hectare. The dam was constructed in 1957 by a French contractor with water potential of 12,9 billion cubic meters per annum and the first multipurpose dam in Indonesia.
There are 6 (six) turbines running with installed power of 187 MW producing an average of 1000 million KWh of electricity each year run by government owned Perum Jasa Tirta II.
The Jatiluhur dam also provides irigation for 242,000 hectares of rice fields, tap water supply, fishery and flood control, it also function as world’s largest drains. The dam also provides recreation services, hotels, bars and restaurants,
The landscape is nice, especially in dusks with beautiful sunset. You can also rent boat from locals to have a tour on the dam. There also jet skis facility and other water sport facility. You can also enjoy fishing in the are.
The Jatiluhur dam can be access through the toll way (Purbaleunyi: Jakarta – Cikampek – Purwakarta – Cileunyi) by exit through the Jatiluhur exit in Purwakarta.
